“I believe in the power of good psychotherapy and have deep respect for my clients wherever they are on their life’s path. “

Roberta Rachel Omin, LCSW

Welcome.  Let me tell you a little about myself so you can get a feel if we would be a good fit working together.

I’ve been practicing psychotherapy and counseling for over 30 years. After earning my Masters Degree in Social Work and Post-Masters Certificate in Advanced Clinical Social Work, I’ve continued to be a lifelong learner. In 1996, I completed a three-year training program becoming a certified Gestalt Therapist. Since then, I completed all levels of training and am certified in both Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO for couples). These models have been integrated into my practice.

Over the years I specialized in working with families, particularly with children who have special needs. I also wrote many articles and newsletters for parents with children with special needs as well as typical parenting concerns, which can be found on the “articles” page. While I no longer work with children directly, I do continue to work with parents coping with their children and their adult children, as well as intergenerational family concerns of all variations. This area holds a special place in my heart.

Over the course of my career, I also have a particular interest in working with people living with illness of all kinds. Having lived through breast cancer myself I have a sensitivity to the experience. No two illnesses or the experiences with them are the same, each person is unique and I bring that awareness to my work. Each person and their situation is unique.

I believe in the power of good psychotherapy and have deep respect for my clients wherever they are on their life’s path. Over the course of my career, I have worked with individuals and couples to improve their interpersonal relationships with their families and significant others, heal from trauma, adapt to life during or after illness or grief, or cope with a major life disappointment, disruption or transition.

Because I have worked with people in all stages, phases and cycles of life, I have come to appreciate the range of issues people face as they go about their lives. And because no one’s life is free from pain and sadness, it takes strength and courage to know when to seek help. I am passionate in my belief that we each have the power and capacity within ourselves, along with the safety and trust held in the therapeutic relationship, to transform and grow into our highest and best selves.
